Shirodhara

Shirodhara with Abhaya   I am so very pleased to now be offering Shirodhara.

I was most fortunate to be trained by Bill Price, who trained with Corina Schmidt (Maharaj) of the Vaidya Mishra Lineage.  As the training progressed, I was filled with gratitude for my teacher.  Through him, I found this lineage to provide a more in-depth understanding of the benefits of Shirodhara along with several small but profound differences in the actual application of the therapy.  In addition, the ShiroBliss unit I use is brilliantly designed, giving me options not usually found with a Shiro unit.

I cannot wait to share this beautiful therapy with you.

This therapy, given to us by Ayurveda, the ancient and holistic science of well-being and longevity, will balance the mind, body, and spirit.  It is a profound purifying and revitalizing treatment, addressing and alleviating stress, insomnia, mental tiredness, anxiety, expunging muscular tension/tightness, plus assisting to address a variety of other illnesses.

It is well documented that STRESS is the #1 cause of imbalance in our bodies, minds, and spirits.  If this stress is allowed to linger and fester, it will lead to imbalances in the body which can then become diseases/illnesses.

What is Shirodhara?

The etymology of Shirodhara is from SHIRA, meaning ‘head’ and DHARA meaning a ‘steady flow’- which in this case is a steady flow of oil applied to the 16 Marma points on the forehead with a concentration on the single point in the center of the forehead.  The oil is carefully selected for each person based on various factors such as season, any imbalance apparent on that actual day, age, etc.  In addition, the temperature of the oil is adjusted accordingly.

You will come away from your Shirodhara treatment with a delightful sensation of relaxation, inner calm, and well-being.
